The popular Largs Live weekends used to bring droves of visitors to the town as every pub would host live music in the summer.

The last weekend of June was normally the highlight of the live music calendar as Largs pubs, restaurants and hotels opened their doors and provided free music.

It was launched in 2012 and billed as a new music festival is being launched to coincide with a Largs pre-Olympic sailing event with the slogan: "20 Venues, 30 Bands, 40 Gigs."

Scottish songstress and former Fairground Attraction singer Eddi Reader was booked for Barrfields Pavilion Theatre on June 30 2012.

Largs and Millport Weekly News:

At a meeting to plan the promotion of the big event in the Brisbane House Hotel Stephen McDonald, who had the original idea, said: "We do a lot of entertainment, but it's not just about Lounge and Room. We have 16 acts for the Largs Live weekend but Willie on the accordion at the Anchor bar is just as important as me bringing Val Verde to the town."

Indeed, the succes of the event grew and grew as the three day event became one of the busiest weekends of the year in the town. Pubs such as Ye Old Anchor, Lounge, Three Reasons, The George, JG Sharps and Droughy Neebors (formerly McCabes) and The Waterside all provided hours and hours of live entertainment each day of the festival.

Here are some photos of Largs Live over the years. The last Largs Live was co-ordinated by the Largs Events group in 2019.
