MOTORING enthusiast will soon be able to snap up an Aston Martin within a five minutes walk from their home after a local businessman unveiled his plan for a car business in West Kilbride.

Ollie is opening up with business partner Jamie McCrindle.

Their plan to revamp a former motorbike shop and turn into into a new plush showroom is set to create local jobs and revitalise a part of the village.

The West Coast Motors venture is already operating a click and collect service but hopes to move into top gear when lockdown is lifted.

Ollie, pictured, above, took over the motorbike showroom - Route 78 Motorcycles - which was based on Ardrossan Road for a number of years selling bikes and scooters.

Its product range will change to high performance cars under Olly's ambition plans which have seen him relocate from elsewhere in Ayrshire.

The company director said "We will be showcasing Aston Martins, Audis, Nissan GTRs, hot hatches, that kind of thing.

"We are hoping to create five jobs.

"We used to be based behind Asda in Ardrossan but we were hidden. People had to go to quite an effort to try and find us, so this is a much more visible location next to the Seamill Hydro.

"The cars will range from £5,000 to £50,000, but we are excited to bring fresh employment to the area too."

Asked about whether Brexit has had an effect on supply, Ollie admitted there had been a hangover but that most of his sales are UK based.

He said: "Everything is all appointment based and delivery at the moment because the lockdown rules are so strict.

"I am born and bred in West Kilbride so it is really nice to be opening a new business where I'm from. That gives me a lot of pleasure and a lot of pride."

He added: "We are a local business run by enthusiasts striving to provide high quality, premium cars. Our focus is on performance and specialist vehicles, including sports cars, 4X4's, convertibles and luxury motors.

"It is something new for the area and we are delighted to bring employment opportunities alongside that."
