Largs residents are being urged to be vigilant following a bogus caller incident which scammed a couple of a three-figure sum.
Around 1:30pm on Wednesday March 31, a couple in Chapelton Way allowed two men to undertake work on their roof after believing they had been contacted by a family member.
On alleged completion of the work, the price had more than doubled and after the men left it was found that the roof had not been repaired.
Police officers are now appealing for witnesses in the area, who may have seen the men in question or who may have been visited by them on the same day.
One was white, in his 30s, approximately 5’5’’, slim with dark hair, had a local accent, and was wearing work clothes. The second man was older and heavier set with grey hair.
Both men had attended the house in a red van to scam the couple aged 78 and 80.
