ONE of the original Fife vessels designed and built the Bay Street boatyard in Fairlie has gone up for sale - with a whopping £2.4 million price tag.

The unique Big Class William Fife 125 Racing Yacht is 38m in length and designed and built by William Fife III.
He was the third generation of the famous boat-building family - and the reputation of his 'fast and bonnie' vessels saw some participate in the America's Cup in the early 20th century.
This particular racing yacht was launched in 1911 from the iconic former local yard and was restored in 1991 by Fairlie Restorations.
In 2003 she was one of the stars of the classic circuit and raced in Cowes, Falmouth, Monaco, Cannes and Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez.
Her refit recaptured the ethos that prevailed when she was built in 1911, including mahogany planking over steel frames secured with bronze fastenings.
Agent for the sale, Yacht World, said: "After careful dismantling and restoration, it was possible to reinstate virtually all of the original owner and guest accommodation.
"Consistent with her racing pedigree, the interior design is restrained with weight-saving open deck heads revealing the structure
"Very few changes have been made but do include the addition of modern services and some enhancements such as a shower in the owner’s bathroom replacing the original sunken bath whose space is now given over to the engine room."
The vessel, which is currently for sale for £ 2,391,099, includes accommodation is for four guests in one twin and two single cabins and eight crew.
