There were two call-out for Largs Lifeboat on Sunday to the Isle of Bute including a very early morning report of two people in the water.

The coastguard received a coastguard report at 5.15am.

"Only a few minutes after launching news was received that in fact there was only one person who was on shore in the hands of police, on learning this news the lifeboat was stood down and returned to station to be made ready for her next service.

"Later on the same day at 8.20 pm. the lifeboat was again requested to carry out a shore line search, again near Rothesay, for a missing vulnerable person.

"Whilst conducting the shore line search the eagle eyed volunteer lifeboat crew spotted the casualty whereupon they guided the shore based coastguard team to the casualty location.

"When it was confirmed the casualty was in the safe hands of the coastguard team the lifeboat was stood down to return to station at 10pm. where her, and her crew, would carry out a total decontamination procedure."
