Emergency services have been attending a car accident near Knock Castle this evening.
Ambulance and police have rushed to the scene.
Eye-witness reports have said that the vehicle was lying on its roof.
There has been heavy traffic disruption on the A78 between Largs and Skelmorlie resulting in long tailbacks at the scene.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said : "Officers are currently in attendance at the A78 Largs to Skelmorlie road following reports of a crash involving two vehicles. A woman has been taken to Inverclyde Hospital."
