The Euros may have ended but we don't have to wait long until the next major international tournament, with the World Cup set to take place next year.

Quatar will play host to the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup, which will see 32 teams battle to lift the much sought after trophy.

Scotland will hope to qualify after their Euros journey, while Gareth Southgate's England team will want to go one better after a tough defeat to Italy in the Euros final at Wembley.

With football mania having taken the country by storm, here's everything you need to know about the 2022 World Cup.

When is the 2022 Quatar World Cup?

There are normally two years between major international championships like the Euros and the World Cup, but due to the postponement of Euro 2020 last year, the gap has been reduced to one year this time round.

It means we won't have to wait long to watch the best players in the world go head to head to bring the title back to their home nation.

While 2018's World Cup was a summer affair in Britain, the 2022 tournament will take place from November 21 - December 18, due to the weather being too hot in Quatar in June and July.

What is the time difference between Quatar and the UK?

Quatar is only two hours ahead of the UK, meaning you won't have to get up in the middle of the night to catch the matches.

What are the key dates for the 2022 Quatar World Cup?

The group stages will kick-off on Monday November 21 2022.

Between November 21 and December 3, 32 teams will play three matches each in their group stage to decide who qualifies for the final 16.

The final 16 will then commence on December 3, with games played until December 6.

From here, the remaining 8 teams will contest the quarter finals on December 9 & 10 for a place in the semi finals.

Semi finalists will play on December 13 & 14, before the final on Sunday December 18 2022.

When is UEFA Women's Euro 2022?

2022 is a big year for football, with the UEFA Women's Euro 2022 taking place in the summer.

With England as hosts, the tournament will see the Europe's best female teams descend on the country from July 6-31.
