Students opening a bank account with the Royal Bank of Scotland will be given £50 and a four-year tastecard membership, thanks to the launching of a new student account. 

You shouldn't have to wait long for the bonus, with the bank committed to paying the £50 within 10 days of the account being opened. 

The account also comes with a £2,000 interest free overdraft which is available from the first year of study. 

Along with the bonus and the overdraft comes an RBS tastecard, which offers discounted meals, cinema tickets and groceries at numerous restaurants, venues and shops.

How can I get the deal?

To be eligible for the account you must be a student at a UK university or college, enrolled in a full-time course lasting at least two years.

You are also eligible for the account if you are studying to be a nurse. 

What do you need to do? 

After opening the account, you need to register for online or mobile banking and choose to receive paperless statements. 

Once you have done this, you should received your £50 bonus and four year tastecard.
