THE public toilets in Aubrery Park have reopened following a drainage repairs.
Independent councillor Ian Murdoch says the loos are needed now more than ever due to the pandemic and the importance of hand washing facilities.
He said: “I regularly raise the issue of toilets at Aubery Park, The Pencil, Broomfields and Mackerston, about opening times and the fact they are sometimes not open at all.
"Aubery was closed because of a problem with the drains but it is good to see this has been resolved."
Community councillor Linda Smith says the distance to the nearest block on Gallowgate Street means the service in Aubery Park is essential.
She said: “We’re trying to promote Largs as being a dementia friendly town and toilets are a basic need for elderly people.”
A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “Works had been undertaken to the toilets in Aubery Park and these were reopened on June 30.
“Unfortunately, the drainage system became blocked again; as a result, further clearance works took place and this facility is now back open.”
