Largs News Camera Club photographer Eddie Williams captured some marvellous images of the Anthem of the Seas cruises passing behind Cumbrae last night.

Anthem of the Seas is a Quantum-class cruise ship owned by Royal Caribbean International and the second ship of her class. The Quantum class is the third largest class of cruise ships, and was making her way down the estuary from Greenock.

The giant liner has become the first cruise ship to visit Greenock since the coronavirus pandemic began.

She is heading off a five-night UK cruise, after berthing at Ocean Terminal's new cruise pontoon.

Largs and Millport Weekly News:

She is the first cruise vessel to call on the west coast of Scotland since 2019 after public health restrictions were eased by the government.

Last year's entire summer season was cancelled by the coronavirus pandemic but now cruise visits are finally allowed once again.

Royal Caribbean's 169,000-tonne vessel is the second biggest cruise ship ever to sail up the Clyde.

The passengers on board Anthem of the Seas are all UK residents who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

The ship boasts no fewer than 16 decks and has an impressive observation capsule which extends almost 100-metres above sea level.

She has the capacity to carry 5,000 passengers but cruises are only taking place with reduced numbers at present.

The ship also has what is billed as the largest indoor activity space at sea, including bumper cars and roller skating.
