CalMac staff at both Largs and Cumbrae have been receiving verbal abuse for a variety of reasons from travellers, it has been reported.


A spokesperson for the Ferry Users Group said: "Everyone is entitled to their opinion, however verbally abusing staff is unacceptable behaviour and is certainly not going to resolve the situation.

"Like many of us they are carrying out their duties as their job dictates and should not have to put up with verbal abuse doing so.

"Due to circumstances out with their control and the extraordinary weather we are lucky enough to be experiencing, they are working under significantly increased pressure. Please be mindful of this when travelling and posting on social media."
