Largs Thistle 4 Rossvale 2

Largs pulled off their first senior league win against Rossvale in a topsy-turvy encounter at Barrfields Park in the glare of the intense sunshine.

Pressure was building on Thistle after two defeats and things didn't get any easier for the Barrfields faithful when the Vale took a shock lead after a stunning strike from Finlay who tried his luck from 22 yards with a searing shot into the back of the net, while Blair McIntyre had forced a good angled save from the keeper in the early stages.

The goal came against the run of play after Jamie Ballantyne had struck the woodwork from a free kick.

Largs roared to life in the second half with George Sewell notching the equaliser with a forceful header from a Stuart Faulds corner. See below.

Ross Love headed home to put Thistle 2-1 up in the searing heat.

The Vale hit back on 72 minutes through Kavanagh who took advantage of the first shot that was blocked to lash the ball home.

We were all on tenterhooks and Ross Love just glanced wide from Owen McGinty's probing free kick on the left.

However Jack Haggerty was sent crashing to the ground in the penalty box prompting the referee to point to the penalty spot - and skipper Scott Adam stepped up to convert on 83 minutes.

Largs guaranteed the points on 88 minutes as Blair Docherty stroked the ball into an empty net from ten yards after a clever build up.

Full credit to Largs for putting the negatives behind them and going full throttle in the second half to collect full points and get their Premiership campaign up and running.
