Largs Thistle legend George Wall's weekly column...

On Saturday I took in the Benburb v Kilbirnie game at New Tinto Park at the invite of ex Largs favourite Frank Lovering who featured in the 1991 West of Scotland Cup victory 30 years ago.
It is a great set up the Bens have there with Frank being the president of the club.
The Bens beat Kilbirnie 3-2 with Frank’s grandson Lewis Lovering scoring a last minute superbly taken headed goal.
That now though is three defeats in a row for Kilbirnie - this league is unforgiving.

*Largs Thistle are back to winning ways, and they certainly needed it.
Losing three games in a row can put you on a downer but the 4-2 win against Rossvale gets the team back on track.
It would have been easy to let the heads go down when Rossvale fought back to 2-2 - all credit to Arnie and his side for showing character and perseverance.
As I said previously there are no easy games in this league, and recent results have shown this.
Who would have predicted Bonnyton beating Pollok or Cumbernauld overcoming Cumnock.
Thistle faced a tricky away trip to Guys Meadow but came away 4-0 winners after a solid performance and now set their sights on chasing three points against Cumnock tomorrow, 2pm kick-off at Barrfields.

The Thistle over 35’s keep on track in their quest to win the league after a convincing 6-2 victory away to Whitletts Vics . Thistle blew the Vics away in the first half going up 5-1. The pace of the game dropped in the second half as you can imagine in the 25 degree temperature but still a great all round performance. Scorers were Scott Cameron x2 Daryll Duffy x2, Grant Cockeriill and Malky Duncan.
The next game for us is away to Boswell.
It was great to see Aberdeen and Hibs get good results in Europe, with both clubs look to be going through to the next round. Rangers and Celtic had mixed fortunes in their pre-season friendlies
Let’s be honest although Celtic took a heavy defeat and Rangers celebrated their victory over Real Madrid and looked really impressive - will these results bear any resemblance to what lies ahead in the coming season?
You have got to think Celtic will get better for their opening league against Hearts.
How they got in such a mess after years of success is mind blowing.
I suppose football is a funny old game.
