A LOCAL MSP is to meet with CalMac to raise the issue of the Largs to Cumbrae ferry queuing 'fiasco'.

Jamie Greene, who has already written to operator asking them to tackle the issue, told the News he has been swamped by complaints from constituents impacted.

These includes residents facing traffic snarl-ups and lengthy queues at both sides of the route.

His discussions with CalMac will focus on possible longer-term solutions to this issue, as well as what immediate steps can be taken to ease the burden on residents and commuters.

Mr Greene said: “Queues for the ferry at Largs and Cumbrae have been a long-standing issue and it’s clear how much of an additional negative impact Covid-19 has been on the service.

“Residents are unable to properly go about their daily business and those using the ferry are often facing waits of up to 90 minutes.

“This is clearly an unsustainable situation and I will be raising constituents’ concerns directly with CalMac bosses this week to see what solutions they can offer."
