Heading back to over 40 years ago, Largs Brisbane Queen was in full flow - and was, as always, a very regal occasion which required a lot of planning behind the scenes.
A picture of the Queen and her entourage along with the festival committee comes from August 1980 included many well known faces. It included Lord Glasgow Patrick Boyle, Glasgow, the late Isabel Glasgow, David Macdonald, and the late Cllr Richard Wilkinson.
A children's fancy dress competition took place at Barrfields - do you recognise any of the participants?
Largs Youth Club had plenty of participants, as you can see from our main photo above, while the former Millport tennis courts in front of The Garrison were providing some ace entertainment for the youngsters who were aiming to emulate their role models of the period such as Bjorn Borg, John McEnroe, Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert.
And it was sports day at Skelmorlie Primary as these youngsters had to show good balance and poise in the usual run of fun activities.
And Largs Academy girls received some hockey tips in the school sports fields. See below.
