The popular bookshop at Wemyss Bay Railway Station is temporarily closed after a ceiling collapsed due to flooding issues.

Part of the bookshop flooded during the heavy rain last Friday afternoon.

The ceiling collapsed  because some drains which are very difficult to access have become blocked.

Friends of Wemyss Bay Station are grateful to Network Rail and to their contractor, CPMS, for their prompt attention and advice and hope the drainage problem can be dealt with soon.

Meantime, it is planned to re-open the bookshop on Monday 16 August, but with part of one room out of use.

However, the shop may need to close at short notice in the event of heavy rain.

At the moment the shop can only accept small donations of books.

The Friends thank supporters and customers for their understanding and look forward to returning to normal service as soon as possible.
