TWO television stars visited the area on Monday to catch a ride on the world famous Waverley.
Entertainers Prunella Scales CBE and Timothy West CBE are one of British acting's most recognisable and successful couples - and were spotted enjoying a trip through Largs - and headed onwards on a round trip of Ailsa Craig.
Prunella, 82, who also starred as Sybil in the classic BBC comedy Fawlty Towers, has been diagnosed with dementia, and she and Timothy recently spoke about the effect it has had on their lives. Both star in the popular Channel Four show Great Canal Journeys.
The celebrity visit came a day after a unique trip which saw the famous vessel heading on a rare cruise to Ardrishaig on Loch Fyne.
It was the Waverley's first sailing to the Argyll village for 20 years.
Waverley Excursions general manager Paul Semple said: "It was a big event and we haven't seen a welcome like that when we headed into Ardrishaig for a number of years, with several hundred people greeting us upon arrival. It was quite a reception."
