STV weatherman Sean Batty believes Ayrshire could see record breaking temperatures for September today.
The forecast for today shows that it is possible that the thermometer could be hitting 28-29 degrees.
It is to be a fine dry day with long sunny spells and becoming very warm or hot. It could be the hottest September day in Scotland for over 100 years, with September temperatures last reaching more than 28 Celsius away back in 1906.
Looks like today could be the warmest September day on record for Glasgow, Renfrewshire & Ayrshire with highs of 28-29 possible. It could also end up being Scotland’s warmest September day since the 1906 heatwave when it hit 32.2 in Aberdeenshire. pic.twitter.com/HAfQHK1k4N

For Thursday, there is expected to be low cloud and mist at times near the coast. Otherwise bright spells and scattered showers, the showers possibly heavy with a risk of the odd rumble of thunder - maximum temperature 21 °C.
