EXCITING plans have been unveiled for a new multi-million pound Marks & Spencer in Largs which would generate around 50 jobs.

The wraps have been taken off a proposed M&S Food Store for 123-125 Main Street, to replace the Pearson of Largs showroom, and base of architects firm Stewart Associates.
All jobs will be retained by both Pearson, who are expanding at Wemyss Bay, and Stewart Associates, who will be moving to new premises in Largs.
A planning application is due to be submitted for the M&S Food Store later this month, finally marking the end of a 15-year search for a suitable premises in the town by the national chain.
The new retail project is being taken forward by Westquarter Developments, with neighbour notification notices going out last week - the above video gives a flavour of what to expect.
A spokesperson said: “We have been working in partnership with landowners, Pearson Suzuki and Stewart Associates, and are delighted to confirm plans to make a detailed planning application for an M&S Foodhall outlet at the site of the existing Pearson Suzuki showroom and repairs business and offices occupied by Stewart Associates.
“The development will comprise a modern contemporary styled retail unit which will be operated by M&S in the form of one of its very popular Foodhall format outlets.
“The site is very centrally located in the defined town centre and shopping zone of Largs and can be easily accessed by all modes of travel.
“The proposed development will complement and add considerably to the retail and other attractions of the town.
“It will be a real asset to the town centre and its existing businesses.
“M&S Foodhalls carry a wide range of premium quality fresh and pre-packaged foods complemented by floristry, newspapers and greetings cards and this will be the case with the planned store at Largs.”
The blueprint includes dedicated car parking to the front and a separate service yard to the side, both to be accessed off a new in-and-out junction onto Main Street.
The developers added: “The proposed development is a unique and very exciting scheme for Largs and M&S.
“The location right in the heart of Largs town centre means that the new store provides the potential to deliver a significant range of retailing, town centre investment and economic benefits to the town and its people.”
