Largs Thistle 5 Larkhall Thistle 3

Some stunning goals from Largs saw off a plucky display from underdogs Larkhall United - while Thistle had Jamie McGowan to thank for a critical save.

This 2nd round Scottish Cup encounter had thrills and spills as Largs came perilously close to throwing away a 4-1 lead but did just enough to get over the finishing line. In truth, Thistle should never have been in this fraught position after largely having been in control.

On ten minutes, Owen McGinty opened the scoring with a sensational angled strike after Keir Milliken's effort went wayward.

Largs moved 2-0 up in stunning fashion with a McGinty free kick. See clip below.

Larkhall pulled a goal back just after McGinty had fired another free kick off the crossbar to deny him his hat trick. See free kick below
McGinty notched his third exquisitely after the break with a sensational effort from outside the box. See clip below

Will Sewell took advantage of some slack defensive play to race on to score as Largs were seemingly comfortable at 4-1 on 57 minutes.
The match nearly flipped on its head as Larkhall scored twice in five minutes and nearly netted a sensational equaliser as a clever turn and volley was turned away at full stretch by McGowan.

The match was wrapped up by Will Sewell on full time with a spectacular lob. See goal below

Largs boss Stuart Davidson said he was pleased with some excellent periods of play but much less so with some of the defending on display- and is looking for a vast improvement going into the Premier League next week at home to Kilbirnie.
