HISTORY was made on Monday as the Largs United Guild met up for the first time.
With church mergers very likely to be on the cards, it was decided that the guilds of Clark Memorial, St Columba’s and St John’s churches would create one Largs United Guild.
Among them, the three Guilds have contributed 272 years of service to the community.
The first meeting of the new guild took the form of a short act of communion, led by Rev David Watson. The guest speaker was Iain Whyte, National General Secretary of the Guild, who spoke on the importance of faith.
Mr Whyte, who has been General Secretary for ten years, announced that he will be retiring at the end of the year and was presented with a book token in appreciation of his years of service.
Also attending the meeting were representatives from Guilds Together North Ayrshire.
The Guild is open to both men and women and will meet every Monday at 2pm in the Dunn Memorial Hall from October to March. Anyone who is interested may come along and enjoy some fellowship with friends old and new - as well as a cup of tea.
