Largs Thistle 5 Glasgow Perthshire 1

Thistle progressed in the Soccer Shop South of Scotland Cup with a comfortable second round victory.

Largs had only one goal to show for their considerable first half efforts after midfielder Craig Forbes tucked home at the left post after Thistle had passed up a glut of chances. See goal below.

Premiership Thistle then scored twice in theopening five minutes of the second half to put this game out of reach of their Conference C opponents.

On 47 minutes, Forbes skilfully turned his man on the edge of the area and whipped the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal to make it 2-0. It was good to see as the buzzlng midfielder makes his comeback from injury which kept him out of most of the season. See goal below.

Largs found themselves 3-0 up after a red card for Perthshire's Logan McIntyre following an off the ball incident in the penalty box, with Will Sewell stroking the spot kick into the back of the net.

And Thistle made it four on the hour mark with a bullet header into the net from Cory Hughes who came close to netting another but was only denied after a spectacular save from the Perthshire keeper.

See Cory's goal below.

The Glasgow side pulled a goal back through Jack Currie's finish but Thistle were still plugging away and got their fifth when Ross Love powered home a header to round off a convincing scoreline.

Thistle boss Stuart Davidson praised his players for their second five goal showing in a row but was disappointed not to get a clean sheet this time round - and has called on full concentration for the full 90 minutes in next week's mouthwatering Scottish Cup clash at Cumnock.
