Largs Thistle kids are top of the under 20s development league - but coach Ian Nixon is calling for focus on the next game.

The club have been on a great run of results - and moved up to top spot after defeating Cumnock away 6-4 last Friday evening. Thistle next play fellow league challengers Neilston at Inverclyde Sports Centre on Friday night.

Thistle U20s are continuing to move from strength to strength with another victory keeping them in contention at the top of the new development league.

Watch video below of Thistle's brand of fast attacking football in a recent match versus Darvel. Liam Lapsley's forceful run through the centre resulted in a lay off to the onrushing full back Declan McIntyre. He set up Andy McEwan at the nearside of the box and he sent a magnificent curling effort into the top left corner of the net.

However, coach Ian Nixon says his sole aim is to have the players well prepared and ready to step into the first team when required - and wants the players to concentrate on performing well in each match."

Ian said: "I feel the lads have been training hard, playing hard and really setting high expectations of themselves.
"For me, I am not really looking at the table - it is about winning games, and I coach the boys to a style they like to play, and developing them for the first team, winning the league would be nice but it is not something I am paying a lot of attention to.
"We are unbeaten in eight or nine games - but all I am focussing on, and the players too, is Friday night against Neilston."
