Rossvale 1 Largs Thistle 2

It was the late late show from Largs to keep their survival hopes intact with William Sewell heroically heading home the winner in the 94th minute.

Despite dominating the first half and squandering a series of chances, Largs found themselves a goal down at half-time.

In the first half, McMaster fired over the bar from just a few yards out after a fast paced cross into the box, and then a super chance fell to Sewell who blazed over from six yards with the goal gaping.

Brad Gray was injured in defence as Largs had to reshuffle the pack while Keir Milliken came off the bench and nearly scored from the half way line.

On 42 minutes, an uncharacteristic error by McMaster allowed Rossvale to make the breakthrough as James Dolan tucked home from 10 yards.

Vale launched another attack before half-time as Ricco Diack burst through on the right but he ballooned over.

Thistle keeper Danny Farrell  then had to make an excellent save at full-stretch to deny the home side a second.

Subs Blair MacIntyre and Jack Haggerty both joined the fray.

Good work from Craig Forbes at the edge of the D released the onrushing McMaster on the right and as he raced into the box was hauled to the ground on 57 minutes. See clip below.

The referee pointed to the spot and Sewell stepped up to confidently place it into the bottom left corner of the net to make it 1-1.

Rossvale were reduced to ten men after one of their subs was red carded for a second offence with 15 minutes left.

With time running out, and a spectacular rainbow overlooking Petershill Park, Largs were still searching for their pot of gold equivalent in a winning goal.

And it duly arrived in the 94th minute as a corner was won out on the left hand side.

Faulds directed it to the near post where Sewell was lurking and he neatly delivered a glancing header past a pack of bodies and into the net to ensure maximum points.
