A man was airlifted to hospital following a two car smash on the A78 earlier today.
The roaad between Hunterston and West Kilbride was closed just after 3pm due to the road traffic collision.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2.45pm on Wednesday November 17, officers attended a road crash involving two cars on the A78 near to West Kilbride.
"Police and ambulance attended and the road was closed.
"A 59-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and the road was reopened around 5:50pm. Enquiries are ongoing."
