Residents in their 50s, unpaid carers or those living in an immunosuppressed household, should use the national portal or call the national helpline to book a  Covid19 booster appointment, as they will not get a blue appointment letter.

An NHS spokesperson said: "We are aware of a small number of citizens who have been advised by their GP to expect a blue appointment letter. We are working with our colleagues in primary care to ensure citizens are advised of the correct process.
"The best way to ensure you book your booster vaccine is to visit the National vaccination online booking portal: https://www.nhsinform.scot/vaccinebooking
"Alternatively, you can all the national vaccination helpline on 0800 030 8013."

NHS Ayrshire & Arran Public Health Director Lynne McNiven said:

“Our booster programme is well underway and we have delivered more than 105,000 booster or third COVID-19 vaccine doses locally already since the end of September.

“People in their fifties are eligible for booster and they can book on to the system now."
