Largs Thistle have lodged an S.O.S for new committee members after warning that the current situation of only five volunteers is no longer sustainable.

The club's cry for help featured in last weekend's match programme as club secretary Ryan Scott outlined the club's predicament in stark terms- and stressed the urgent need for more volunteers to help behind the scenes.
The club, which operates in the West of Scotland Premier League, and has now reached the Quarter Finals of the Scottish Junior Cup, is desperately short of committee - following last week's departure of long serving David Blackwood as Club President.
David was the longest serving committee member having joined the club in the early 1990s - and the club have thanked him for his long service and wished him all the best for the future.
Ryan said: "We currently have a committee of five I'll say that again - FIVE. Its unsustainable, we cannot run the club with so few people, it just isn’t possible.
"I take on a large amount of the workload which in principle is part of my job as Secretary but at the end of the day I work full time as do most others around the club and cannot continue doing as much as I am.
"Unless somehow the club can employ me part time it just is not possible. I currently do approximate 20 hours a week for the club.”
“There are lots of things that get done behind the scenes which many fans don’t know about. As a committee, we meet every two weeks to discuss the operational side of the club. We are all volunteers with a passion for football and Largs Thistle.
"We work primarily to fund the playing side by organising advertising, fundraising, facility hire/use and quite a lot more. Regular discussions must be had with the management regarding the playing side but also about the strategic aims of the club going forward. Such as planning for our future SFA Membership license and working on regenerating Barrfields Stadium.”
“We are all supporters. We all love this club of ours just as much as you. We feel the ups and downs of the league season not just from the pitch but also behind the scenes supporting the management and players to succeed. At the end of the day, we are responsible for the future of the club and take a lot of pride in this. We work to the best of our strengths and support one another to do the best we can.
"We all love it. Although it can be a very challenging task to run a club while most of us work full time It gets done because we are committed and enthused by the supporters who turn up and show their support week in week out.”
“It’s not just the committee though. We have a group of fantastic volunteers who commit a lot of time supporting us as a committee to make sure everything runs smoothly.”
“We desperately need more people to get involved by joining the committee to help shape the future of our club. If you are interested and want to find out some more information, please speak to any committee member on matchday."
