EMERGENCY services are working on scene after a vehicle has become engulfed in flames in Inverkip.

Fire crews were alerted to the vehicle blaze just beyond the Bankfoot Roundabout shortly after 2pm today.

Severe tailbacks are in both directions whilst police and fire crews work to extinguish the blaze.

It is believed that traffic is being directed via Ardgowan Estate and is coming out at Inverkip Marina.

A Scottish Fire & Rescue spokesperson said: "We were alerted to a vehicle fire in Inverkip at 2.02pm.

"Fire crews and police are in attendance."

Police Scotland have issued a note to drivers to avoid the area if possible.
