Glenafton 1 Largs Thistle 3

Largs fought back from a goal down and went on to dominate this encounter against Glenafton.
On 24 minutes, Will Sewell cleverly turned his man on the right hand side of the box and sent in a fierce effort which had to be beaten away by keeper David Markey. See clip below.

Glenafton attacks were fizzling out as Largs seemed to have the upper hand but it was a high ball which caught Largs off guard.
From the keeper David Markey's kick out, the high ball drifted forward and Sam McKee took full advantage as he raced through on the left to draw out Jamie McGowan in the Largs goal before tucking the ball in the bottom right corner on 34 minutes. See clip below.

It was a hammer blow to Thistle who had rarely looked threatened but to their credit they finished the first half on top and got the equaliser they deserved.
A corner kick went flying in from the right which was met by a strong header from Will Sewell which was beaten out by the keeper only for the determined striker to knock the rebound into the roof of the net on 40 minutes.

Glens sprayed the Largs goalmouth with some early corners in the second half with McKee going close after a clearance was rescued by Glens who launched a dangerous ball into the box but the forward lifted the ball over the bar with just McGowan to beat.
It was a warning signal for Thistle who moved ahead after another corner kick on 51 minutes as McGoldrick rose above the defence to launch a powerful header into the top left corner of the net. See clip below.

Sean McLeod tried his luck after turning his man on the right hand side with a stinging shot from the wing which was punched over the goal with both hands by Markey.
Thistle sealed this victory after McLeod had received treatment on the sidelines and was allowed back on the park. It was a timely arrival as Haggerty's free kick on the right was cleared back out to the wing and McLeod was alert to sling the ball back into the danger area for McGoldrick to tuck the ball home on 75 minutes to make it 3-1.
There was a yellow card for Glens Alan Cairns as Will Sewell was chopped down as he attempted to counter after another Glens attack fizzled out which was a sign of the measure of frustration growing in the home side.
Subs Keir Milliken and Craig Forbes came on to help shore up with Glens only having one attack of note which went wide as Largs confidently saw out this encounter.
This was a real team effort from Largs who made every effort to stop Glens attack at source with every player defending when required.
Some terrific goals also put Glens to the sword with Largs very much taking advantage of set pieces in order to get their goals.
With Largs players heading straight from the game to a night out in Newcastle, the players more than merited it after this tenacious display which bodes well for the second half of the season.
