Yoker 1 Largs Thistle 2

A STUNNING last gasp free kick from sub Blair MacIntyre saw off Yoker in the Kilmarnock Pie West of Scotland Cup first round.

Largs had plenty of play in the first half hour without creating much in the way of clear cut chances.

Adam went closest after a corner kick to the near side which he spun on to and forced a parried save from Urquhart.

However, the home side grabbed a surprise lead after a quick three man move as defender Davidson picked out Waddell on the edge of the box who flicked the ball onto the onrushing McGrath who raced through on the angle before converting on 33 minutes. See clip below.

Largs notched the equaliser on the stroke of half-time.

It was a high ball through from Stuart Faulds which was knocked on by McGoldrick to Adam who cut in from the right hand side before showing composure to turn his man and lashed the ball into the bottom right corner from eight yards. See clip below.

Yoker nearly scored on 63 minutes as another quick passing move saw a shot cannon back off the Thistle crossbar.

Thistle turned to their substitutes, with Will Sewell going close as headed wide. His electric pace started to create opportunities for Largs, while MacIntyre was also proving a nuisance to the Yoker rearguard.

Jack Haggerty cut in from the left wing and sent in a fizzing shot which had to be pushed wide by Urquhart then the keeper denied sub Keir Milliken, who had the goal at his mercy after a well placed cross but was denied. See clip below

Urquhart then stooped to turn a seemingly goalbound header from Sewell around the post. See clip below -

Time was running out with penalties looming and Yoker were starting to carve out some late chances, with Largs keeper Jamie McGowan twice being called upon to block dangerous efforts.

Entering stoppage time, Yoker conceded a free kick around 30 yards out after the referee spotted a handball.

It required something special to beat the home keeper - and MacIntyre stepped up and arrow a superb shot over the wall and into the bottom right hand corner of the net.

Largs knuckled down to overcome their opponents in what was a cracking cup tie and retain their winning streak as they prepare to face Bonnyton Thistle this Saturday in the league.
