Largs Thistle 5 Bonnyton Thistle 1

Largs pulled out a Christmas cracker of a display to dismiss basement boys Bonnyton in a slick second half performance which bodes well for the rest of the season.
Despite the fog descending as the game went on, it was just as well it was an early 1.30pm kick-off as otherwise the game may well have been abandoned like others in Ayrshire.

Thistle created a barrel-load of chances throughout the 90 but what was most pleasing was the quality of the goals.
However it was the visitors who took a shock lead on 17 minutes.
Wallace's pass was intercepted by Connor McGoldrick but the ball was deflected into the path of a Bonnyton attacker Gilroy who slipped the ball to the onrushing McColm who despatched past the outrushing Jamie McGowan in the Largs goal. See clip below.

The Bonnyton keeper had to be substituted due to injury, while Largs desperately searched for an equaliser.
George Sewell headed over from a corner and then Will Sewell forced the keeper into a top notch save after a burst down the right.
The leveller from Largs was well deserved after a number of chances had been passed up as a clever backheel from Jack Haggerty on the left wing outfoxed his marker.
Haggerty then flicked the ball onwards to Will Sewell who threaded the ball through to the onrushing Blair MacIntyre, and his diagonal run evaded defenders as he hit a low drive past the keeper from 12 yards. See clip below.

The leveller came on 31 minutes and Largs went on to utterly dominate the rest of the half with chances galore as MacIntyre cracked the left post moments later after another well worked move, McGoldrick's effort then went narrowly wide, and Sewell's cross whizzed across the face of goal with no takers.
There had been a few heavy challenges going in from the opposition as they struggled to get to grips with Thistle's frenetic play and before the interval Ablorn saw red for a bad challenge on McGoldrick near the semi-circle.
Thistle dominated the second half barely letting Bonnyton out of their half with some high quality passing moves.
Largs moved ahead as Sean McLeod fired home at the far post after a deep cross from the left wing on 62 minutes. See clip below.

Skipper Stuart Faulds made it three as he flicked the ball into the roof of the net for a tidy finish after another excellent build-up on 74 minutes.

See clip below.

And Will Sewell made it four a minute later as he smashed a volley into the roof of the net after being set up by Simon McBryde.
And Largs rounded off the scoring in style on 85 minutes with a sumptuous team goal full of passes as Laurie McMaster raced through like a bullet and drilled the ball into the bottom right of the net on 85 minutes. See clip below.

The full time whistle went in the nick of time as thick fog descended across Barrfields but there was absolute clarity from Largs in this encounter as they completely outstretched and outfoxed this Bonnyton side- and can now look forward to Christmas and the new year in fine fettle.
