LIBRARIES in West Kilbride and Fairlie have had their services suspended for over a month.

Services in Fairlie and Skelmorlie have been closed altogether while West Kilbride's has only been able to provide a click and collect service.

Libraries in Largs and Millport are due to re-open on January 6 - with no date yet fixed for the reopening of the others.

A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: "Due to a variety of reasons we have had to suspend the service in Fairlie, Skelmorlie and West Kilbride libraries.

"Moving forward the numbers entering the library will be controlled and Test and Protect details will be collected.

"We will ask people to sanitise their hands regularly, wear a face mask (unless exempt) and follow the physical distancing markers throughout the library, in a one-way system.

"We ask users to keep their visits as brief as possible and returns boxes will be kept outside the library.

"Those wishing to use the library for studying purposes will be made welcome but should be mindful that we may be required to limit this due to capacity numbers."

"The reopening of Fairlie, Skelmorlie and West Kilbride Libraries will be reviewed dependent on advice in January."
