Largs Thistle 0 Pollok 2

Largs fell to league leaders Pollok at home despite an energetic display.

Chances were thin on the ground with neither keeper having a lot to do but Pollok managed to net in each half to seal maximum points.

On ten minutes Largs had their first attack as Cory Hughes picked out Will Sewell down the right hand side and Thistle's top striker fastened on to it and blazed forth with a sizzling effort which had to be palmed across the face of goal by Pollok keeper Jordan Longmuir.

The ball blazed across goal with Matthew Grant tucking the ball away to safety with Jack Haggerty waiting at the left post. See clip below.

On 14 minutes, Pollok missed a great opportunity as Grant threaded the ball through to MacKenzie who sped past Ballantyne on the right to cross the ball through to Josh Weir in the centre of the box.

He despatched the ball past McGowan but Sean McLeod's outstretched leg on the line diverted the ball to safety. See clip below.

Pollok's corner count was mounting and their incessant pressure resulted in a breakthrough as Ryan McGregor headed home at the near post on 31 minutes. See clip below.

Largs very nearly notched an equaliser on the verge of half-time as Jack Haggerty's lofted cross into the box found its way to Simon McBryde who rocketed in a diagonal shot from 12 yards which was cleared off the line, and then Duffy's rebound was blocked. See clip below.

Stuart Faulds resultant shot was then cleared off the line for a second time by Evan Horne in an incredible moment of action.

Largs went close on 55 minutes as McBryde's searing half volley from outside the box had to be beaten away by Longmuir. See clip below.

There was a sense that Largs were giving as good as they were getting and were pushing for an equaliser.

The match was brought to a temporary halt in hilarious scenes as an out of control dog managed to race on to the pitch.

When play restarted Ballantyne made a great diving challenge to deny Weir who had a clear sight of goal on 64 minutes.

Haggarty's deep cross from the left found Sewell at the far post but he headed wide under pressure from a watchful Pollok defender.

It was now Largs' turn to win a succession of corners as they kept the pressure on the league leaders and their narrow lead.

However, it was game, set and match to Pollok as Duffy's cross was blocked and Pollok's MacKenzie intercepted to launch a high ball forward. See clip below.

Cory Hughes could only get a backward header on it as McCann blazed on through, turning the defender and then coolly drilled the ball past the outrushing McGowan into the bottom left corner of the net on 85 minutes.
