Largs Thistle Scottish Cup winning legend's football column

It was a great comeback by Largs on Saturday - they looked down and out against the Buffs but what a recovery.

Largs are not far away from being a team that should be competing at the top of the division and I think their performances albeit not results against the teams who are at the top of the division support that theory.
Arnie has and is doing a great job as manager, and Will Sewell scores another to keep him flying at the top of the goalscoring charts. It is exciting times for Thistle.

Another eye-catching score in the league was Kilbirnie putting five past Hurlford United, while in the battle of the big guns second placed Auchinleck toppled league leaders Pollok 1-0.
Largs next face a return to St Roch's in Glasgow before facing in form Troon at Barrfields in the league to round off February.
Looking at the number of fixtures played in the Premier WoSFL , Largs have played 25 games, Bonnyton bottom of the league 30, Pollok top of the league 28 and Darvel who I guess consider themselves one of the favourites to win it have played only 20 games.
Surely when you see such discrepancies there is a need for the league to do better. With this being such a important season with the restructuring that is taking place with up to eight losing their place in the top division more thought should have been put into it.
Back in the day when I played it was the Monday night at training you found out who you were playing on the following Saturday.
We have moved on from that but my opinion is still not good enough with all the claims the clubs are “senior”.
In order to meet the deadlines of the play offs for the Lowland League a lot of games are going to be squeezed into a short period .
After watching highlights of the Man Utd game at the weekend it got me thinking that Christiano Ronaldo should retire gracefully.
Playing in that Man Utd team with the obvious problems they have it seems to me that he has taken on to much. I really can’t see him getting to the levels the fans expect from him. I then got to thinking about Lionel Messi and he has not been setting the heather on fire at PSG either.
Are we seeing the end of arguably the two best players ever?
They certainly are the best players of their generation.
Yes other players have ability but I think it’s their winning mentality and dedication that sets those two apart.
The question for me is, who is out there to replace them?
I can’t think of anyone near the levels those two guys have set.
