LARGS visitors and locals will soon be 'having a ball' as Vikingar becomes the first place in Scotland to welcome an exciting new £20,000 attraction.

The News was given a sneak peak at the new MultiBall simulation which mixes sport, fitness and fun.

It uses a giant projector and interactive display to host a multitude of games and activities including football, tennis and darts.

It can also offer giant board games such as Connect Four and general knowledge quizzes, all played by aiming a ball at the screen.

It is state of the art technology and KA Leisure bosses hope it can give the venue a new lease of life.

Vikingar closed its softball play area and instead decided to invest in the new attraction which, it is hoped, will become a major draw for all ages.

MultiBall is described as a mixed reality sports and gaming platform that swings between physical activity and digital games.

Players kick or throw a ball at particular targets, and do the same during quizzes. The educational games are designed to combine physical activity and develop skills in maths, geography and more.

Each 45 minute sessions for four people at a time.

Brian Dickie, of Vikingar, told the News that the interactive element of the new facility will keep youngsters occupied and engaged.

Brian said: "It is geared towards children - but adults will love it too

"We will be running 45 minute sessions for up to four people.

"This is one of the first ones in Britain - so it is very exciting to be introducing it at the Vikingar.

"We expect the football game to be popular but there are a wide variety of games and activities to suit all interests - we hope it is going to become a big hit."
