Football columnist George Wall gives his verdict

Largs Thistle really blew it!
The Scottish Cup quarter final tie against Petershill was exciting and a game I thought Largs should have won.
Sloppy defending killed them. Despite losing a goal in the first minute they showed character to comeback and take the lead but it all counted for nothing.
How deflated all at the club must feel but that is football.

Largs and Millport Weekly News:
They now need to clear that out their minds and focus on the next game.
It is so critical they get three points against Blantyre this Saturday. With Glenafton winning two league games on the bounce and Rossvale winning three which I really did not see coming the pressure is really on.
The team need to go and show they can handle that pressure and playing against Blantyre is probably one of the teams they would have chosen to play at this time.

Pre-season started back for the Largs over 35’s team on Friday night at Inverclyde . It was a good high intensity session and I would like to apologise to Barry Wilson after giving him a sore one, he sent me the photographic evidence to prove it. Sorry Barry. The team will again play in the Ayrshire League. Having finished in 3rd place the past two seasons the boys are confident they can win it this time. Anyone out there that would like to sponsor the team please get in touch.
Postponing Scotland’s World Cup qualifying game against Ukraine was the right thing to do. For me it was inevitable and most folk would be in agreement. I believe the plan now is to play a couple of friendlies which will help with preparation when the real tie comes along . With Kevin Nesbitt being out injured long term it gives Steve Clarke the chance to look at another striker, but who ? I struggle to think of anyone at this time who can say they deserve a chance. Maybe Ross Stewart at Sunderland ?
Another great display by Rangers in Europe and only a heavy defeat against Red Star in Serbia will stop them reaching the quarter finals of the Europa League. Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst will no doubt say the tie is not over but surely if they were to go out now it would be a major shock.
And Cristiano Ronaldo scored a sparkling hat-trick in Manchester United's 3-2 victory over Spurs, while Lionel Messi was booed at during the Paris St Germain match. Crazy times - but Ronaldo is still showing his class at Old Trafford.
