Largs Thistle 2 Blantyre Victoria 3
Thistle twice took the lead in this encounter but their defensive woes returned to haunt them against Blantyre Vics.
Largs made a positive start and the opener arrived as McBryde placed a lofted ball into the box where Jack Haggerty raced in at left post with a smart finish on 12 minutes.
Despite dominating that opening half hour, Blantyre levelled matters with a 30 yard effort from O'Donnell which hit the underside of the crossbar and bounced off the ground, just crossing the line. See clip below.
Just before half-time, Stuart Faulds curled a 22 yard effort off the top of the crossbar as Largs went close again.
Thistle made a positive start to the second half and it was Haggarty who twirled in another looping ball into the box - and this time Docherty was there to scramble it over the line on 47 minutes.
It felt like a breakthrough moment but instead the match flipped on its head once more as Blantyre continued to push forward.
On 68 minutes, a corner kick on the right flew into the near post and Ronan Kearney was quickest to react as he fired the ball home through a ruck of players to make it 2-2.
And then on 73 minutes, a high ball was delivered into the Thistle box with nobody cutting it out, as Ronan Kearney powered home with a header from close range at the left post.
Sub Will Sewell forced the Blantyre keeper into a good save after a long distance strike but Largs were unable to turn this game around.
It was a very underwhelming finish to this game as Largs were chasing an equaliser but Blantyre managed to see the game out.
A trip on the road for the next three matches is perhaps a good way to clear the mind and refresh as Largs are capable of much better than this - it is vital they rediscover their mojo.
LARGS: McGowan, McLeod, McMaster, Hughes, McGoldrick, Faulds, Haggerty, McBryde, Duffy, Forbes, Docherty. Subs: W.Sewell, Love, Ballantyne, Lindsay, G.Sewell, Zadarnowski (GK).
