It is good news for Mapes of Millport which has received the seal of approval from Bikeability Scotland to offer impartial advice and basic maintenance skills to children learning to ride.
The cycling shop on the island's seafront, which celebrated its 75th anniversary last year, have pledged to provide independent advice to customers when looking for bikes appropriate for Bikeability Scotland training.
The aim is to provide reassurance to customers that new or recently purchased bikes are fit for purpose and ‘Bikeability Scotland Ready’.
All staff will be informed about the Bikeability Scotland programme to support customers to undertake their own pre-training bike health checks.
Mapes will champion the aims and objectives of Bikeability Scotland, in encouraging young people to develop the skills and confidence to make independent trips by bike.
Shop owner Scott Ferris said: "We are delighted to announce that Mapes of Millport has received the stamp of approval from Bikeability Scotland, we will offer impartial advice and basic maintenance skills to our kids learning to ride.
"Happy cycling!"
