It was three massive points for Stuart Davidson's men who showed character to bounce back after Ladeside took a first half lead just before half-time.

And it was fitting that Stuart Faulds, who was victim of a brutal challenge in the first half, stepped up to head home the winner deep in stoppage time.

In the powderkeg moment, Faulds was upended on 19 minutes after a high challenge which saw him tumble to the floor writhing in pain. See below.

Thistle players' pleas for more severe action were denied as Gavin Mitchell received a caution.

Ladeside enjoyed some late pressure in the first half.

The 'Blasties' came close to opening the scoring through ex-Thistle midfielder Graham Muir after a high ball into the box from McGuinness on the left on 38 minutes.

However, Largs keeper Farrell stood his ground and beat the ball away at the left post.

Another dangerous McGuinness ball was lofted into the box, this time from a free kick on the right hand side, on 41 minutes.

Towering defender Connor McGoldrick got his head on to it but unfortunately the mis-directed clearance fell straight into the path of ex-Largs forward Alex McWaters who headed the ball into the top right of the net. 1-0 Kilbirnie. See clip below.

Thistle returned after the break all fired up and intent on getting back into this match.

On 57 minutes, Scott Adam held off the attentions of a Ladeside defender as he managed to turn in a low angled drive which was swept across the face of goal and just past the left post.

Thistle's perseverance paid off as Will Sewell slotted a diagonal effort home after he raced on into the box after another good attacking move from Thistle. 1-1 on the hour mark. See clip below

On 65 minutes Faulds sent a dangerous inswinging free kick into the Kilbirnie penalty box which was just headed off the line by Ladeside's Alexander.

Connor McGoldrick headed the resultant corner off the side-netting, as Thistle continued to ramp up the pressure.

With so much at stake it felt more like a cup-tie with action swinging to the other end with Danny Farrell having to make a superb save low to his right from a downwards header. See clip below.

With seven minutes to go, Will Sewell sent a flying header goalwards from a corner but it was headed off the line by a Kilbirnie defender covering the left post area.

The goal when it came was a moment of magic as time was running out.

A high ball was launched into the Kilbirnie box, and Faulds nipped in at the far post to head into the top right corner and send the Largs support into raptures.

With Kilbirnie caught up the park, Largs countered and were even given a sniff of another goal as Will Sewell burst clear into the Ladeside half with just the keeper to beat but the ref blew for full-time.

This was a fantastic team performance from Largs with everyone playing their part.
