THE popular Wemyss Bay Holiday Park is to get a £600,000 overhaul ahead of the summer season.

Parkdean Resorts, the park’s operator, has announced the funding, part of a £140 million spend across its UK facilities.

The investment in Wemyss Bay will go towards new accommodation, with 23 upgraded caravans being introduced to replace the existing fleet around the park.

The company is also installing park-wide wifi.

More than 27,000 visitors flocked to the park last year, and more are expected to stay on the Firth of Clyde in 2022.

The park employs almost 150 people in peak season, and is now hiring for seasonal and full-time roles across sales, food and beverage, and housekeeping.

Steve Richards, chief executive of Parkdean Resorts, says the investment in Wemyss Bay will also benefit nearby businesses and attractions in the coming years.

He said: “This will ensure holidaymakers keep coming back year after year, spending money in local shops, pubs and restaurants and supporting the communities that rely so heavily on tourism."
