Largs Thistle 8 Beith 1

Thistle lashed an impressive eight goals past Beith last Wednesday evening in a scintillating attacking display of football.
Remarkably, it was Largs first league victory over the Garnock Valley side  since 2011, and a stunning show of top quality goals - and could have been even more such was Thistle's dominance on the evening.
However, it was Beith who took the lead in this encounter after only four minutes as Jason McKay sent in an unstoppable angled shot to the far right corner which diverted in via a post.
Thistle levelled on 11 minutes after Laurie McMaster was chopped down by Lawrence McMahon upon bursting into the box - and Will Sewell converted from the spot.
More good work from McMaster saw a stubborn refusal to lose possession as he managed to twice dispossess Beith before Stuart Faulds curled a divine effort into the top right corner of the net on 15 minutes.

Moments later, Scott Adam went close as his rifled shot from the left bounced back off the base of the right post.
On 24 minutes a high ball from defence released Will Sewell, and he spotted the keeper racing off his line and coolly lobbed the ball into the net.

On the half hour mark Sewell came close to adding another with a superb angled drive from the right wing which keeper Burgess had to punch over the bar at full stretch.
It was a great team goal for number four on 35 minutes as Adam prodded the ball across to McMaster who sent a diagonal effort beyond the keeper into the bottom right corner of the net. 4-1.

And Thistle were far from finished in the first half as they made it 5-1 as McMaster's curling ball from the left wing found the onrushing Craig Forbes who headed the ball home on 44 minutes.

Sewell nearly added a spectacular goal to Thistle's salvo as he launched an acrobatic overhead kick to a long throw from his twin brother which was nodded on by Adam which ended up going just over the bar.
And on 56 minutes Sewell then struck a 30 yard piledriver off the top bar as Largs continued to leave Beith against the ropes.
On 64 minutes Thistle made it 6-1 as sub Blair Docherty's shot was parried by the keeper only for Forbes to force the ball home at the second attempt.

On 71 minutes, Thistle moved 7-1 up as Simon McBryde finished off in style a good move which started down the left wing, and finished with the midfielder thumping the ball into the roof of the net.

Danny Farrell beat away a few Beith efforts on goal but Largs were not to be deterred as they kept pushing forward and on 80 minutes it was Docherty's turn as his pace again floored Beith as he lifted the ball over the Beith keeper from the edge of the area to make it 8-1.

Docherty had another chance at the death as he blazed over but Thistle had already produced a dazzling display.
The team were warmly applauded off the field by supporters after a fantastic attacking show.
Largs were really motoring and now need to maintain this level of performance between now and the end of the season.
