A TEAM of talented young Largs performers took to the stage for a special show at one of Glasgow’s most prestigious theatre venues.

Ten youngsters from ShowWorks in Largs performed Like There’s No Tomorrow at the iconic King’s Theatre in the city.

Company director Ryan Moir says the performance was part of a nationwide programme where theatre groups link up with others to perform and make new friends.

He explained: “The show was part of a UK-wide programme called National Theatre Connections, where new plays are written every year for young actors to perform.

“The Largs group from ShowWorks linked up with kids from our Glasgow one to put on the performance of Like There’s No Tomorrow.

“The two actually rehearsed separately for months but came together in the last few days to bring it all together."

Ryan says the chance to perform on such a famous stage was a real thrill.

He said: “The youngsters were able to work alongside a professional crew, and it was a great opportunity to perform in such an iconic venue.

“They were taking photos all day, and they couldn’t have been more excited to be on a huge stage with hundreds of seats.

“The public were able to come along and watch so there was a few hundred people there, including family and friends from Largs.

“They really got a glimpse of the world in a professional environment."

Ryan says the programme allowed the Largs teens to mix with like-minded youngsters.

He explained: “The whole premise of the programme is not only to give experience of performing new material, but to give a real networking opportunity too.

“The two groups from Largs and Glasgow have emerged from the production as one."

Performer Josh Ennis added: “It was a privilege to perform in one of Scotland’s most recognised theatres and to experience the big stage in front of a Glasgow audience.

“I really enjoyed it."

The Largs youngsters who took part were Finn Dale, Jackson Burleigh, Josh Ennis, Ruby McGill, Lloyd Maclachlan, Amber McCarthy, Anna Wylie, George Wilson, Zara Crawford, Cameron Barker, Julia Coulthard and Megan Wigzell.
