A giant US Navy owned cargo ship has arrived on the River Clyde this morning heading for Hunterston.
The vessel departed from Plymouth and is due to arrive at Hunterston Terminal later this morning.
The USNS ROBERT E.PEARY is a Replenishment Vessel was built in 2008 with an overall length of 210 metres and her width is 32.2m, and has a speed of 20 knots.
United States Naval Ships are unarmed auxiliary support vessels owned by the U.S. Navy and operated in non-commissioned service by Military Sealift Command with a civilian crew.
She is the fourth Navy ship named after Arctic explorer, Rear Admiral Robert E. Peary (1856–1920).
