West Kilbride Ladies triumphed in the big First Division tennis clash with Largs in the opening doubles fixture of the Ayrshire League.


Sophie Geddes-Emerson and Jean Wilson beat Janie McKenzie and Chris Reekie 6-2, 6-4, 6-0.
Diane Fung and Trudy Coyle won 6-3, 6-1, 6-2 for Largs against Frances Rodman and Jennifer McNicoll, with the third deciding rubber seeing Maire Henry and Morcella Taylor winning 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 for West Kilbride against Nancy Bunyan and Mary Lunday.
In the third division, Largs 1 got off to an opening day win 5-4 versus Prestwick 4.
William McMillan and Drummond Bone won 6-2, 2-6, 7-5; Barry Wilson and Andrew Boyle won 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, and Alan McEwing and Steven Nicholls lost 2-6 4-6 4-6.
It was a derby challenge in the second division as West Kilbride 1 faced off against West Kilbride 2.
The first team convincingly won 8-1. Lewis McAulay and Mark Henry beat Neil McLure and Russell Nicholson 3-6 7-6 6-0.
Douglas Johnstone and Joe Hume beat Rory Couper and Alan Taylor 6-4 6-1 6-0, and Bill Mcnicoll and Tom Hunt    beat Jim Joyce and Derek Ballantine 6-2 6-3 6-2.
