A trio of nuclear submarines sailed past Largs last week on their way to Faslane in a powerful message to Russia.
Nuclear submarines Britain, America and France all sailed up the Firth of Clyde to HMNB Clyde - a move that has been hailed as a show of unity by three nuclear powers.
The UK's Trident submarines were joined by an American Virginia class sub and a French Rubis class vessel.
The editor of the UK Defence Journal George Allison says that while the arrivals will all be routine, it is unusual to see three nuclear subs from different countries at the base at the same time.
These are routine visits before anyone asks what's going on, they happen year round. I just find it interesting that a French sub and American sub are at Faslane at the same time.
