THE last section of Warren Park was demolished on Tuesday as developers get set to replace it with a new state of the art 80-bed care facility.
The Care Concern Group is behind the new development, which has already received planning permission from North Ayrshire Council.
There will be accommodation over three levels with activity rooms, lounges, gym, café, cinema room, dining areas and quiet rooms.
Supporting accommodation including a staff room, kitchen, laundry, and storage area will be located at ground and first floor level.
Landscaped enclosed gardens will also be built, with hedging enclosures to allow residents to use the garden safely, as well as parking facilities.
Warren Park closed nearly seven years ago and the building has fallen into a serious state of disrepair - as well as becoming a target for vandals.
Planning permission has also been received for the addition of residents' balconies on the first and second floors.
