An imposing French warship is the latest arrival at Fairlie Quay this week.
The frigate FS Aquitaine berthed at the pier for what is described as a routine visit.
The warship has previously sailed up the Clyde to Glasgow, but has never docked on the North Coast.
The FS Aquitaine is almost 500 feet long and has a displacement of 6,000 tonnes.
The vessel comes armed with cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles and torpedos.
