Largs Thistle 3 Clydebank 0

Thistle performed ‘The Great Escape’ as they reeled off their fifth victory in a row to secure their Premier Division status in stunning style.
It has been a remarkable turnaround for Stuart Davidson’s side who have had a season of ups, downs and roundabouts.
With seven teams going down this season, Thistle showed a never-say-die spirit whilst playing some incredible football in the process.
Given each of the last five games have been the proverbial cup final, with defeat unthinkable, Thistle took each game to their opponents with gusto, and Saturday’s display was the perfect embodiment of that as they rallied to victory.
Largs made a whirlwind start to this encounter in the blazing Barrfields sunshine.
Skipper Scott Adam won a challenge with a header as midfielder Stuart Faulds raced on to dispossess a defender and send a low drive just wide of the post on two minutes. Thistle took an early lead as Simon McBryde drove forward and picked out Will Sewell and hit a curling effort which whistled into the top left corner for goal number 40 of the season.
A challenge outside the box from Connor McGoldrick downed Liam Harris on 21 minutes leading to Bankies skipper Ross McPherson thundering a 22-yard free-kick off the right post.
On 33 minutes, Bankies went close again with a long-range shot from 25 yards which cannoned off the left post this time with Danny Farrel beaten.
Thistle gained an important two-goal cushion on 50 minutes as George Sewell burst down the right and delivered a cross which two Bankies defenders went for but failed to clear, and Will Sewell clinically converted the opening goal with a sweeping strike into the bottom right corner.
Largs were very much in command after knocking the ball around with confidence and leaving Clydebank frustrated.
Bankies’ Calum McEwan saw red on 67 minutes for his second yellow card as he took down Laurie McMaster near the Largs dugout.
George Sewell, who has been unlucky hitting the crossbar a few times of late, tried his luck with a 25-yarder which flew over the bar as Thistle were dominant.
The icing on the cake came from a corner kick out on the left as defender Cory Hughes powered a header into the top left corner to make sure of the three points.
It was the 100th goal of the season for Largs in all competitions and rubber stamped Thistle’s status in the top flight.
Will Sewell was subbed late on to great applause from all around the terraces as Blair Docherty came on for the final minutes.
As the full-time whistle blew to triumphant cheers from around the ground, fans amassed at the clubhouse area to applaud the team off the park in glorious scenes and it was reciprocated.
Make no doubt about it — in the last six weeks of the season every player to a man has been brilliant.
Will Sewell has been unstoppable as a goal machine, the midfield has grafted, cajoled and created, and Thistle have defended their lines superbly, and when required Danny Farrell has pulled off some superb saves.
Stuart Davidson has instilled a brilliant winning spirit within the side who have taken full grasp of the predicament they found themselves in and came out all guns blazing with good honest hard working endeavour and some really skilful play - they have been a joy to watch.
