Residents, businesses, and visitors to Millport are being asked to have their say on the recent £1.5 million regeneration works on the island.

Over the past five years North Ayrshire Council and Historic Environment Scotland have invested over £1.5 million as part of Millport Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme.

The scheme has focused on the town’s conservation area by repairing buildings, improving shop fronts and public spaces in the centre of the town.

These works are substantially complete with the last couple of projects due to be finished in late summer.

To measure impact, the Council has launched a survey to find out if the investment has made a visible difference to residents, community groups, businesses, holiday home owners, and visitors.

Councillor Tony Gurney, cabinet member for economy and climate change, hopes the work has given the whole town a boost.

He said: “A lot of work has been carried out and we hope that the scheme will reinvigorate this iconic seafront and make a positive contribution to the area and boosting the local economy.

“We consulted with local people, business and visitors at the start of the process and are keen to find out how they feel about the work that has been carried out.”

Surveys can be completed by picking up and returning completed copies of the survey in local shops, Garrison House, and the library.

Researchers will also visit Millport in the early June holiday weekend to further encourage survey completion.
