A WELL-KENT community police officer who has served Largs, the North Coast and Cumbrae for the past ten years is leaving his beat.
After over a decade of dedicated service to the district, Dominic Murphy is being transferred to Kilmarnock, where he will be carrying out response policing.
PC Murphy has been praised and thanked for his service, as well as his unstinting commitment to keeping the area safe.
One grateful local resident remembered how PC Murphy after his stolen rib inflatable boat was recovered following diligent police work.
John Boyle said the departing officer had done an 'outstanding job' after the vessel was stolen and helped bring about its the safe return after tirelessly trawling through CCTV footage.
He said: "People only tend to report the bad news about our police, and I thought it appropriate that for once they got some well-deserved praise for their excellent work - in particular PC Murphy."
PC Murphy was also a regular at community council meetings in Largs and Fairlie.
